L'Alliance Française is a cultural and linguistic institute founded in France in 1883 by eminent figures in the world of arts, sciences and politics.
It is officially endorsed by the French Government and supported by the French Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs. It is today a worldwide French teaching association with a head office in Paris and a network of over 1,100 branches in 138 countries. Its aim is to widen access to French language and culture; this is why Alliance Française specialises in teaching French as a foreign language.
